Reviewing Daisy Pulls It Off by Denise Deegan

#Triggerwarnings: Lose of a loved one, aquaphobia and bullying.

“I’m proud to be once again a girl of Grangewood, of the Upper Fourth.”

Daisy wins a scholarship to one of the best school’s in England. The only chance she hope’s to make things different for her family. Daisy will discover that she’ll make something different for her family, but not as she expected. Nor did anyone else.

After meeting her best friend, things become topsy-turvy very quickly. When the two girls learn of trouble whilst hunting for the lost treasure, Daisy couldn’t imagine where she’d end the school term. It feels as though she’s only just arrived, but she’s always been a bit of a daredevil.

One school, two social classes mix in one place. Is all well?

“We have to accept, Trixie, that different classes of people exist in this world.” Remember the book or the script set in a boarding school in the nineteen twenties. Attitudes would have certainly been different, and not forgetting the First World War has recently ended too. Some have succeeded; others have struggled.

Simply reading the play seemed child-like middle-grade in the audience. Would this be different, seeing as a live theatre production?

“…but my word, have you a lot to learn from them.”

Another Quote: “The truth of the matter is, Alice we’re up a gum tree.” The quote made me laugh.
