Creeping closer to a killer, what secrets do the Phantomhive family hold close to their chest? More to the point, what secrets does Sebastian hold and will the two of them discover the killer?
London remains under threat from the deadly killer, Jack the Ripper. Sebastian; ever the faithful butler to Phantomhive Ciel tracks down the killer’s identity and reveals more of his Lord’s past which returns into a blood bath. The reader has to discover the past of Ciel and Sebastian, a Grimreaper is causes trouble by revealing tricks about a devil.
The reader gets pushed back to the past and accelerated to the future which can get very confusing at times. Ciel’s aunt turns up on his doorstep with her daughter. She insists that Ciel marry his cousin. It gets even stranger and by that point as a reader, I was lost. Despite there being some mutual feelings (particularly on Ciel’s cousin’s part) a marriage between two cousins? I’m aware it was a custom in Jane Austen’s time, so it isn’t completely alien. It is impossible to think in twenty-twenty-three.
One hundred percent, I definitely enjoyed the beginning of Volume 3 a lot better than the end. Towards the middle and end, I became confused with the plot. Will it stop me from continuing with the manga series, absolutely not.
