The parents are now divorced and mum no longer believes in love. Well, not the love for a man. More like a love for sugar.
Mum set up a bakery after we all moved to an apartment. It seemed all she did from the morning, noon, and till night was bake and bake. My guess was she needed a way to put food on our table and forget dad.
The funny thing was before I started high school mum couldn’t bake a thing, not successfully anyway. Now she’s turning out creations in her bakery with me by her side. If only high school could be so much better. Maybe it is after I’ve just been dared to kiss the hottest boy in school.
It seems now I’m truly falling upside down, inside out, and all the way around our tiny town for him. As it turns out this sweet guy isn’t what people thought he was either.
I only hope I can make it last, not like my mum and dad.
